Board of Architectural Review The Board of Architectural Review is responsible for maintaining a high character of community development - protecting and preserving property values by reviewing any proposed changes of the exterior architectural characteristics of structures throughout the Architectural District. Board of Control The Board of Control is responsible for opening bids, awarding contracts, and approving any City contract or purchase which must be made pursuant to competitive bidding.
Board of Income Tax Review The Board of Income Tax Review is responsible for hearing appeals from taxpayers dissatisfied with any ruling or decision of the Finance Director pertaining to city income tax imposition and collection. Board of Zoning Appeals The Board of Zoning Appeals is responsible for hearing appeals for exceptions to and variances in the application of ordinances governing zoning in the City.
Seven members are appointed by City Council to review the Charter of the City of Norwalk and make recommendations for changes. The charter sets forth how the City will be governed. Civil Service Commission The Civil Service Commission prescribes, amends, and enforces rules for the positions in the civil service of the City. Revolving Loan Fund Board The Revolving Loan Fund Board oversees the Revolving Loan Fund program which encourages economic growth, increased tax base, and increased job opportunities through loans to small and moderate sized businesses.
